What is included in a subscription?
A regular subscription includes a year’s worth of story prompts for 1 storyteller, unlimited recipients (people with whom the storyteller’s stories are shared), and 1 black & white hardcover book.
Can I purchase extra books?
You can order additional books at the end of the subscription year. The pricing for additional copies of your book is as follows:
- $39: Black and white interior, up to 480 pages
- $79: Color books, up to 300 pages
- $99: Color books above 300 pages, up to 480 pages
Please take the time to carefully review your book’s interior preview before ordering, as we cannot offer reprints for errors that were present in the preview.
If you are ordering a large number of books, we recommend ordering one copy first. That way, you are able to see the book in person, and can make any necessary corrections on our website before ordering the rest.
What do the books look like? Can I customize the cover?
The books are 6ⅹ9 inches, similar to a book you might find in a bookstore. The font is Merriweather, size 10. We currently don’t support font formatting of any kind – no italics, bold, or underline. The books can include photos; by default these are printed in black and white but color printing is available at an additional cost.
You can choose between 5 professionally designed cover styles. You can adjust the colors of each design and customize it with a photo and a title.
Can I choose the questions?
You can choose your storyteller’s questions from our library, edit our questions, or even write your own, so you have full flexibility with the topics your storyteller can write about.
If you’d prefer not to choose questions, your storyteller will receive questions randomly from our library by default.
Can I change my weekly question?
Each question email contains a link to change your question if you’re not inspired by that week’s topic. Just click that link, and you’ll be taken to our question library, where you can choose a new question or write your own.
Can my family’s stories be printed in the same book?
Each subscription covers 1 storyteller and 1 book, but if you purchase multiple subscriptions for multiple storytellers, you can include all their stories in the same book at the time of printing. (You’d then receive multiple copies of that book for your family to save.)
Can I invite two storytellers that share an email address?
If your storytellers share an email address, that’s no problem! You can purchase them each a subscription with the same email address (you’ll just need to make both purchases separately). Once their subscription begins, your storytellers will both receive questions once a week. The emails will be distinguished by the names in the subject lines.
What happens if I miss a question?
You have as much time to reply to a story prompt as you would like, and can catch up at any time. All questions sent to you will be saved to your account at www.storyworth.com/home. You can even go back and respond to old questions after your year’s subscription has expired.
How do I submit my story?
Just hit “Reply” to the question email, and compose your story in the new email. When you’re done, just send the email, and your story will be posted to your account. Note: Please do not send your story as a PDF file, as our system is unable to read those attachments.
Is there a word limit to my stories?
Our printer can print books up to 480 pages. In practice, few people run into this limitation. If your book exceeds 480 pages, you may purchase additional volumes. To find the current page count of your book, start a book order and download the interior preview.
Can I include photos?
To include a photo, simply include it with your email response, either inline or as an attachment. You can also upload images by logging into your account on our website.
We support standard photo formats such as JPEG and PNG, but please do not submit photos as a PDF file.
We do our best to rotate photos correctly, but it’s safest to submit them already rotated. To rotate or crop a photo you’ve already posted, edit the story on the website, then click the photo to access editing tools.
At this time, we do not offer tools to resize pictures once uploaded, but we are hoping to add this in the future. You can resize your photos offline and re-upload them. Photos will be printed at a minimum of 150dpi. If you need help resizing your photos, feel free to contact us.
If you would like to remove a photo after it has been uploaded, simply click to the right of the photo inside the text box and press the backspace/delete key on the keyboard just like you would when deleting text.
Can I include captions with my photos?
Yes, you can! Type the caption directly underneath the photo. Short captions will be centered automatically in your book. Captions longer than one line will not be centered. Please note that the centering on the website may not exactly match the centering in the book, so make sure you review the book proof before ordering a printed book.
Can I edit or add on to my stories?
You can edit a story at any time by following these steps
- Go to your account at www.storyworth.com/home
- Click on the story you want to edit from your Table of Contents
- You’ll see links to edit your story in the right column (and don’t forget to hit “Save”)
Can you ship internationally?
Shipping to Canada, Europe, Australia & New Zealand is included in our $99 package. For other destinations, we may charge standard shipping. If you email your shipping address to email@example.com, we can give you an exact quote.
Can you respond in a foreign language?
Storytellers can respond in any language. Right now our printing process supports most Western languages, but does not yet handle other alphabets and characters. We are planning to add support for more languages.
While our questions haven’t been translated yet, you’re welcome to edit the questions before they get sent out and translate them yourself.
What happens when my subscription ends?
When your subscription ends, you will receive an email with the option to renew for another year, or to print your book. We do not print the books automatically, and usually give people a few weeks to edit their stories.
How will my story look in the printed book?
To see how the story will be formatted in the 6x9 book you can log into your account on our website and click on the story title and then click “download”. This will download a PDF to show you exactly how the story (and photos) will appear in your book. You can then go back and make edits as needed.
What is your return policy?
If for any reason you’re not thrilled with your StoryWorth purchase, we offer full refunds within 30 days, as long as no books have been printed. Printed books can not be returned or exchanged.
How long does it take for orders to be delivered?
StoryWorth is a great last minute gift, since our one-year storytelling gifts can be delivered the same day via email (you can also print a gift card at home). Your gift recipient will receive a weekly email with a question about their life, and at the end of the year they can order a beautiful hardcover book of their stories.
With standard shipping, Hardcover books take approximately 10 business days to deliver from the day they are ordered. We also offer economy and expedited shipping. Our book order page will give you a more precise estimate based on your shipping address, but note that these are estimates only and that we cannot guarantee shipping or delivery dates at this time.
